PF International July 2004

13 entries for TKM at PF due to the Super 1 round at Lydd, which Andy had to miss due to lack of funding. however there were still some good drivers to produce some good racing over the weekend.

Heat 1

Andy would start in 5th for this 1st heat, and made up 1 place into the first hairpin. Andrew Wilkinson showed the form, clearing off while Andy battled with Michael Cornell and Ben Connor. Wilko took the win from Cornell, some 4 seconds behind, and Andy right behind in 3rd.

Heat 2

Andy started 4th for heat 2 and dropped back into the clutches of Richard Thorpe. Andy had a very tough time getting by him as he resorted to aggressive blocking to defend his position, and as a result Andy lost ground. Andy eventually overhauled him to take 5th, Wilko again taking the win form 6th on the grid.
However his win was not so easy as James Hunt pushed him hard, some three tenths quicker with a 48.8 second lap. Andy set a 49.0 in the traffic.

Heat 3

Andy would start this heat 11th, and both Richard Thorpe and David Parsons were ahead on the grid. This was Andy's worst heat, as every time he got past these two drivers they resorted to dirty driving and knocked Andy wide at the next corner. Andy finished in and infuriating 8th place and was seriously angry with the poor driving showed by Thorpe and Parsons.

Final

To Andy surprise he had 3rd on the grid for the final behind Wilko and James Hunt who were on good form. Into turn 1 and Andy overtook Hunt to take 2nd and closely followed Wilko for a number of laps and was looking for a way past. However, Hunt slipped by and the three of them were in close company until the last lap.
Into the final lap and Wilko immediately moved to defend his position, sticking to the inside to prevent any moves. However into the first chicane and Hunt felt lucky, and stayed with Wilko on the inside, while Andy took the normal racing line in hope of getting a drive on both of them. Hunt waited for Wilko to move out to take the corner, but Wilko had it covered, staying to the inside. Hunt still tried to find the gap and launched off the inside kerb and onto Wilkinson, Hunt's underside clearly visible to Andy at this time! Both Hunt and Wilko came off, and Andy slipped through nicely to snatch the win! Wilko managed to rejoin and finished 2nd, 3 seconds behind Andy, with Richard Breed in 3rd. Hunt slipped back to 10th but was later excluded.

Andy set the official fastest lap of the final with a 49.02
