April 2004
Weather - dry, sunny
Heat 1
Andy led from lights to flag and won by just over 3 seconds from Peter Crease. Nathan Freke struggled to get to 11th but pulled the lap record out of nowhere, lapping one lap in 46.84 seconds!
Heat 2
Both Nathan Freke and Andy started in the bottom half of the grid, and Heat 2 saw them both come through the pack, both encountering problems getting by Mark Rainford, who was defensive and very aggressive to defend his position. Callum Craw took the Heat win from Pole,
Nathan 2nd, 4.06 seconds behind, and Andy 3rd, a further 1 second back.
Heat 3
This would be a tough race as Andy was at the back of the grid, and Freke was on pole. Freke was odds on to take the win, which he did, but
Andy put on a tough battle to finish the heat in 8th place, losing only 8 seconds through traffic
Final
Andy would start the final from 2nd place, as Paul Phelan had sneaked in some consistent finishes to line up on the pole spot. Andy had a relatively poor start but held his position. Phelan had a small gap but was quickly closed up by Andy, Freke, and also Andy Woodvine was looking dangerous in 4th.
Andy went for a move at turn 1 but was not close enough, locked up the brakes and slid sideways up the inside of Phelan, missing his rear by an inch!
This allowed Nathan through up the valley, but come the end of the lap Andy was back past into turn 1, and then next lap completed a solid move on Phelan to take the lead. Andy then held his lead while Freke, Phelan and Woodvine battled it out for the 2nd spot.
Woodvine made his move on Freke, and immediately proceeded on to Phelan, and took him on the second to last lap, as Freke lost a few kart lengths to the pair.
Andy crossed the line to take the chequered flag some 3.34 seconds ahead of Woodvine, Phelan, and Freke respectively. John Halliwell produced a solid effort with a wounded engine to finish in a respectable 5th place ahead of Robert Pearson.
