June - Gold Cup

The Gold Cup had a healthy 34 entries for TKMs, and Andy was after the win after coming only 0.5 seconds behind the winner last year.

Heat 1

Andy started 15th, and made up places on then first lap, however letting Ryan Furner past from 19th on the way. Andy made his way to 3rd and watched as Furner made an incredible move on Luke Johnson into turn 1, sliding the kart sideways as he went past. Furner took the win from Johnson, with Andy another second back. Andy Woodvine was 4th, but was relegated to 6th after being penalised for overtaking under yellow flags. Because of this Paul Phelan took the 4th spot form James Holman.

Heat 2

Andy started 28th on the grid, and stayed there on the first lap, and really struggled to get through the traffic, making places only up to 14th.
Furner won from Pole, with Holman 2nd and Woodvine 3rd.

Heat 3

This heat was either going to be won by Andy or Paul Monks, both starting 6th and 7th respectively. Into lap 1 and Andy picked up all the places to lead into lap 2, Monks however was following closely. Monks followed until the start of the last lap where he made his move into turn 1.
However Andy was not giving up without a fight and they were both side by side round the left hander before lunar. However Monks had the inside line and took the win by 0.09 seconds. James Price was way back in 3rd place, followed by Phelan who took 4th place, again after 4th in both previous
heats!

Final

Just before the TKM final, the heavens opened up and it began to rain heavily. It was a gamble as to what the tyre choice would be until about 5 minutes from the start, by which time any choice that had been made would be final as there would not be enough time to change in such a short time. Andy went for the wet setup, and put 4 teeth on the gear, giving better acceleration for the wet conditions but a terrible deficit in speed if the sun was to come out. As soon as the TKM grid formed up for the rolling lap, the sun came out, instantly drying the already warm track, and leaving Andy helpless in 6th on the grid.
Everyone else apart from Phelan had chosen slicks and only Andy had changed the gearing. Andy had a terrible final on wet tyres on a dry track, and dropped to 8th, finishing some 16 seconds behind Furner who took the win from James Holman. Robert Pearson was in 9th and despite having a full dry setup, could not catch Andy! Some drivers did not know the final had started, as it had been rescheduled wth the gearbox final, and as a result there were 5 non starters due to not knowing their race was on!

Fastest lap of the day went to Ryan Furner with a 47.01 in the 1st heat, the pace Andy showed with his win in April.
