Andy came home 16th in the A final in the 4th round of the Elf/B4 Group Super 1 series, held at Warden Law in Sunderland.
After being sandwiched between the race favourite and another driver in the first heat of the day, Andy was relegated to pole position for the 'B' Final. Once again this looked like another bad day at the national championships, but Andy promptly won the B final comfortably, moving him onto the back of the A final.
After a mechanicing error resulting in the throttle cable being disconnected, Andy looked out of the A final before it had even started. However, a quick and frantic trackside fix by Andy saw him restart and joining the grid on the formation lap, just in the nick of time!
Predicting a pile up at turn 1, Andy moved from 27th to 10th at the start, positioning the kart perfectly on the inside of the first set of corners. Andy did lose a few places throughout the 16 lap final due to too big a gear to eventually wind up 16th, but considering the circumstances it was a generally pleasing weekend.
'Although it looked dire at the beginning, this is my best result at a Super 1 meeting, so although I would ideally have liked to finish higher, I have to be pleased with the result' said Andy after the A final.
Andy has moved up to 27th in the Super 1 table.
