2nd in MBKC Gold Cup Battle
Andy claimed the runner up spot in what was a fantastic 12 lap final In the Gold Cup at the 3 Sisters Race Circuit. Glorious weather held throughout the entire weekend producing some fantastic and clean racing on race day.
After a 2nd, a 7th and a 3rd in the heats, Andy lined up in 2nd on the grid for the final alongside James Duxbury, with Paul Phelan and Alex Jones on row 2. Duxbury got the inital whole shot but Andy was through into the lead during the middle of the race and looked good to challenge for the win. Alex Jones and Paul Hooper were not far behind and battled for the final step on the podium in what was a very fast-paced race.
Duxbury re-took the lead in the closing stages of the race and managed to pull the tiniest of gaps, using a small advantage in bottom end power to good effect. Andy clawed it back to 0.4 seconds at the line, really nothing to separate the two, but Duxbury it was who tooka well earned victory. Alex Jones took the final spot on the podium, 1 second further back, with Hooper 4th. Paul Phelan rounded out the top 5.
